I arrived just in time to stop their rudeness yet again, though now that I was with Lycannar, I felt a strange reluctance.
Leaving Ash Pack had been heavy, but knowing I would return soon allowed me toplete the necessary tasks and depart. The road stretched long under the carriage wheels, and when I arrived at White Pack to leave my luggage, Alpha Auedric and Nathan greeted me with wide grins and newfound respect.
They had missed the ceremony due to trade obligations, which I understood, and left quickly to journey to this Kingdom, to the King who drew me into the silent dining hall.

In the shadows, I saw Chantel in his usual ce. Slowly, I shifted my gaze to Lycannar, and my gods… what should I call this intensity in his eyes? Obsession? Desire? Both?
Back home, I had feared his obsession would have waned. I had feared arriving only to find he no longer wanted me. Instead, it had multiplied tenfold.
His gaze roamed my face, finally tracing down my body as if searching for hidden marks, bruises, or lingering aches.
Softly, his eyes fell on my fingers and the ring around one of them. Gently, he pulled me closer and cupped my cheek.
Without words, he leaned in to kiss me but at thest second, I pulled away, my heart thudding. Surprise flickered in his expression.
“Lycan…” I whispered. He paused, searching my eyes with a gaze that made my chest tighten. “I… I have something to tell you.”
He didn’t listen. Not a word. His eyes were fixed on my lips, the ones he craved desperately.
Gently, he grabbed my waist, bowing his head in restraint.
“I missed you,” he whispered, inhaling my scent. “You have no idea what your absence has done to me, Zephyrine. No idea at all.”
A lump rose in my throat. I wanted to confess, No. it is too much for both of us.
“Lycan..”
He ignored me, taking strands of my hair in his palm and inhaling deeply before lowering his mouth to my neck.
I swallowed hard, my eyes fluttering closed as his hands moved from my waist to lift me effortlessly.
In moments, I was in his arms, legs wrapped around his waist, as he carried me to the table. When he set me down, Lycannar’s need matched mine.
He slid his fingers under my gown, sending my chest heaving with pleasure and aching for his touch.

“Lycan… Lycannar, wait,” I whispered, but he wouldn’t listen. His lips came to im mine, and my heart raced.
I look away at thest moment to call.
“Lycan, listen to me. Calm down.”
Finally, he obeyed, swallowing hard as he pulled back, trapping me gently with his hand on the table while I remained between him and the world.
I had his attention now, yet words eluded me. How could I tell him that the Moon Goddess who cursed him was the same who forbade me from bearing pups if Iy with a man I was not mated to? How could I exin that I could not give him my body without risking my pack’s wrath?
“What’s wrong?” His voice was soft. I looked up at him, and for a moment, jealousy red at his unreal handsomeness.
When I remained silent, he leaned in, intending to kiss me, but I turned away, chest heaving.
“Lycan…” I called, heart pounding. “What if I can’t give you an heir?”
Silence swallowed the room. His gaze weighed on me like gravity, and I nearly fainted at the pounding of my heart.
He pulled back, stepping slightly away, still silent. Slowly, I met his pale–gold eyes.
“What happened?” he asked.
“I just… I…” My words failed me. His unwavering gaze made every breath a struggle.
“You don’t want to tell me what’s wrong?”
I fluttered my eyes up and shook my head.
“I want to,” I admitted.
“Go on.”
“Lycan…” I whispered his name and he stare in silence.
“Why are you hesitant? I am not even mad at you.”
I swallowed. I am ady who have never have to fear or reluctance but before this man who I couldn’t predict his next actions makes me shiver.
I swallowed hard and beginning,
“During my trip I was…” but the words died as footsteps approached. Princess Mearez appeared, urgency in her eyes. Relief and happiness shed across her face as she saw me.
“Zephyrine,” she called, and I gently stepped away from Lycannar to hug her. “My gods, I can’t believe you’re back!”
She checked me for bruises, but I smiled softly.
“I’m fine.”

“Thank goodness. My brother nearly went mad waiting for you. I am so d you’re here.” My chest tightened at her words. This devotion was overwhelming. How would I tell him about the barrier that now stood between us?
“Lycannar, the moon is almost here. You need to…” Princess Serena started, rushing into the dining hall, stopping short when she saw me. She hugged me tightly. “I knew you would return. Thank you.”
Pulling back, she looked apologetic, then turned to Princess Mearez.
“The Steel Chamber. Let’s go.”
Princess Mearez nodded, eyes shifting to Lycannar.
“The full moon,” she warned. “You have less than ten minutes. You must hurry.”
The princesses nced at me onest time before leaving with Chantel following quietly.
Steel Chamber? Full moon? Why the urgency?

I turned slowly to Lycannar and for what seemed like eternity, he stood silently, gazing at me. Without a word, he stepped forward.
His hands curled around my neck, pulling me close, and he kissed me softly. I dared not resist. His patience had thinned, and the kiss was sinful, consuming, drawing me into him.
“My sisters will ensure you are safe. Mearez will ease your pain tomorrow after you reject that Alpha. I will wait in the ck Tower in two nights. Then we will talk. I also have something to tell you.”
Without hesitation, knowing he filled my heart, he kissed me again. This time staking a im. The harder I tried to resist, the fiercer the fire between us.
Lycannar kissed me like he owned me, then turned and disappeared in the same direction his sisters had taken. I stood frozen, cold, wondering how I would survive a cursed King and still maintain peace as Alpha of my pack.
