A brand–new bottle of deluxe wine. Two golden goblets. Four solid gold bars. These had been gifted to Dessyn as payment for hosting the ceremony of Lycannar and his new beta, Baron.

“Immediately after we finish, the Lycan Kingdom gates close,” Moon said from the doorway, clearly exhausted.

He reached for the wine, but Dessyn pped his hand away.

“This is for a special asion,” she imed.

“What special asion than to celebrate Zephyrine’s ascension as an Alpha? Plus, she’s going to reject Alpha Nyroth tomorrow night, so it calls for celebration,” Moon muttered.

Dessyn paused, her eyes lingering on the golden goblets for what seemed like an eternity.

“Gods, Apex Blood is so wealthy. How many people have gold bars and drinks served in golden goblets?”

“You forget he’s a king,” Moon muttered, reaching for the wine again. This time, Dessyn allowed him.

“Did you see any of the Lycan Princesses before you left?” I asked, speaking for the first time. He shook his head, eyes on me. For a moment, we simply stared at one another. Finally, he asked, “Are you okay?”

Before I could answer, the door opened gently, and Blue appeared.

“Mydy, Alpha Auedric is here. He wants to see you.”

“I’ll be out soon,” I replied. She nodded and left as I rose gently.

“Maybe he’se to celebrate with us. Moon, pour the wine,” Dessyn said, lively, carrying the golden goblets into the living room.

There I saw Alpha Auedric, invitation parchment in hand, his gaze moving from me to the wine in Moon’s

    hand.

“Goodness. It looks perfect,” he murmured. Moon poured him some, and after a sip, his eyes went wide. “Gods! Where did thise from?”

“The Lycan Kingdom,” Dessyn replied proudly. “The Lycan King gifted it to me for hosting his ceremony.”

    “Really?”

    “Really.”

“We should request a trade with the Lycan King sometime soon,” he said thoughtfully, then turned to me. “Or what do you think, Zephyr? Or should I call you Alpha Zephyrine?”

“Don’t be too polite, please,” I replied with a small smile. “You want an audience?”

“Oh yes,” he said, taking another sip of wine from the goblet before handing me the invitation parchment.

“My beta just gave it to me now that I arrived from an official meeting. It’s from Hue Pack. They’re inviting all and sundry to his rejection ceremony tomorrow night. I really hope it’s not what I think it is.”

A frown creased my brow as I unfolded the parchment. Moon and Dessyn leaned in beside me, their eyes on the writing.

There it was. The Alpha of Hue Pack would be rejecting his mate tomorrow night and wanted all to witness the woman who had “cheated and betrayed him.”

“I can’t believe this,” Moon hissed, disgusted. “I still don’t know why you haven’t ordered that Alpha to be ughtered.”

“Spilling blood unnecessarily isn’t what Zephyr does, Moon,” Dessyn replied, finishing with a sharp nce. “However, Nyroth still needs to be taught a lesson.”

“The party will be hosted by Ka Yadev,” Alpha Auedric added. “That’s a heads–up. They’re nning to disgrace you publicly. The invitation went to the Lycan Kingdom too. Apex might be there. His sisters, too.”

I stared at the parchment, then sighed gently. Just when I had resolved to respect him onest time as my first mate, just when I had thought I could leave quietly as Zephyrine the rogue…<fnf325> Content originallyes from f?ndnovel</fnf325>

“And I even considered leaving quietly, just as Zephyrine,” I muttered under my breath.

“Maybe it’s time to end the rumors once and for all, Zephyr,” Dessyn said and Alpha Auedric nodded in

    agreement.

“The insult, the taunts, the belittling… don’t you think it’s time to show everyone your truth? You are an Ashmere, an Alpha. Ash Pack will need you, and you won’t be able

won’t be able to avoid public meetings any longer.”

I nodded, heaving a heavy sigh. Coming out after five years as an Ashmere, as an Alpha… I could almost imagine how stunned everyone would be. But what concerned me most was Lycannar Blood, the man who now dominated my heart. I wondered how he would react if he learned the truth about me.

I bit my lower lip and asked, almost to myself,

“Do you think my identity will settle well with… the Lycan King? I mean… I don’t care what others think, but I just… I don’t know if Lycannar will have a problem with me being an Alpha.”

Silence answered me instead. As I looked around, I nearly sagged. Even Alpha Auedric, usually so adept at reading people, gulped down his wine and passed the goblet to Moon with a small nod of appreciation.

“We will be there tomorrow, Zephyrine. To wish you all the best. For now… goodnight,” he said, turning to leave, stepping out into the night.
