Lycannar is a warlord. Nyroth is nothing but an Alpha. To evenpare them is an insult. Gently, I reach for Lycannar’s palm and ce mine on it, anchoring him back to me.

He stares directly into Nyroth’s eyes, holding his gaze to make a statement, and after a long moment, Nyroth sets his jaw, lowers his gaze, and whispers an apology to the maid.

    “I apologize to you.”

Silence falls again after that. Atst, Lycannar pushes away from the table and walks toward the window, speaking over his shoulder.

“Get out of my kingdom. Both of you.”

Nyroth rises, casting a nce at me before leaving in silence.

Ka follows without a word. I sigh once their presence is gone and rise to turn toward where Lycannar

    stands.

“He is so possessive. You had better calm him, or he’ll kill again,” Princess Serena whispers near me, and I swallow.

Quietly, I walk over to him, resting my palm on his shoulder.

“Lycan?” He doesn’t respond at first, staring into empty space. I watch his eyes dim slightly, the color shifting. Then he turns to me and pulls me into a gentle hug, his face buried into my hair. It feels like he’s trying to calm himself through me.

Slowly, he pulls back to caress my face, sighing softly.

“Lycan…” I call again, panic tightening my chest, because I know he saw something in Nyroth’s eyes. “Lycannar…”

“I will kill him,” he deres abruptly, as if it’s a casual truth. As he always does. “I’ll strangle him without breaking a sweat, Zephyrine. If he dares stare at you again, I’ll pluck his eyes out. I swear it.”

A chill runs through me. Before I can speak, he bypasses me and walks back to the table, leaving me frozen by the window.

Outside, I see Nyroth climbing into his carriage, never once looking at Ka as she does the same. They

    ride out.

For a while, I only stare. Lycannar can be calm for a time, but eventually, he will go berserk. I know he will. Lowering my gaze, I exhale shakily.

It is only a matter of time. Even I cannot tame him.

When I turn back, he is seated at the table again. The room is silent, everyone waiting for him to cool down,

    and I understand.

Dessyn has already left the table, the maid too, and both are speaking quietly with Princess Serena at the side. I sigh and approach them.

Dessyn quickly walks up to me.

    “Zephyr. Are you okay?”

I don’t answer, only squeeze her hand briefly before turning to Princess Serena.

“I will leave now. Please, send my regards to Princess Mearez.”

She smiles and draws me into a hug.

“You did well today on your first duty as our queen. I had nned to tutor you on elegance, but I see there is no need.”

    I smile faintly.

The maid bows before me, but I stop her, unwilling to let her belittle herself.

“Don’t settle for less. You’re only an omega, not filth. You are a Lycan, that means something. If you ever feel threatened, you know who to go to. It will reach the King’s ear, I promise. Hmm?”

She nods, bowing again in gratitude

    “Thank you so much, mydy.”

I smile and watch as she departs with Princess Serena. Soon, only Dessyn, Jurrek, and I remain.

“I’ll say my goodbye to the King,” I tell them. Jurrek nods.

    “I’ll wait by the horse.”

They leave, while I turn back to Lycannar. He’s still quiet, and for a moment, I wonder if something more weighs on him.

“Lycan?” He raises his head, leaning back in his chair.

“I’m about to leave,” I say.

    He nods and rises.

“Let me walk you.” His hand rests against the small of my back as he leads me out.

I bow once more to the elders and his cousin, the Beta, before stepping away. With the King beside me, I can barely breathe, especially now when he seems so furious.

Atst, when we reach my carriage, I stop and turn to him. Searching his eyes, I wind one hand around his neck and ce the other against his chest.

    “Lycannar… what’s wrong?”

He doesn’t answer. Instead, he leans down and ims my lips in a consuming, possessive kiss.

    “I won’t lose you to anyone, Zephyrine. I swear I won’t.”

The weight of his words makes my heart heavy. His eyes don’t lie. He will do exactly as he says and I know why. People’s lives mean nothing to him, not when ites to me.

I kiss him back gently before pulling away.

“Why did you send your coronation invitation to Ash Pack first, Lycan?” I ask. He stares at me before answering.

    “Because I respect your brother.”

That answer makes my chest tighten. He speaks as though he knows Varyn deeply.

“I will hold a ceremony to celebrate my ascension as Alpha, and the first invitation will be sent to the Lycan Kingdom. I will invite you and your family to rejoice with me. And this is because of you, Lycannar, only you. You are the only man I love. No one else will have me. And no one will have you except me. Tell Princess Mearez I left. Tell her I’ll be fine”

I brush my lips against his tenderly, then step back, climbing into my carriage. Jurrek spurs his horse, and we ride out of the Lycan Kingdom.
