“Stop it, Ed…” Sharon said.
Inside the room, Macie silently put on her headphones, ying music to block out Sharon and Edward’s
conversation.
While they wanted to put on a show, she couldn’t be bothered to watch them.
Just like that, two hours went by. Macie decided to wash up first to avoid running into them.
Grabbing her toiletries, she stepped out and caught the sickeningly sweet chatter between the two in the
living room.
Hearing the bedroom door open, Edward nced up only to see the bathroom door shut. <fn3941> Updates are released by Find★Novel</fn3941>
He thought that Macie had been acting strange all day.
He wondered if she was angry but decided that it seemed more like a detached indifference.
For as long as she was in the bathroom, Edward kept his eyes fixed on the door.
A sh of malice flickered in Sharon’s eyes when she noticed this.
When the bathroom door opened ten minutester, Edward practically sprang up to his feet and strode
toward her.
He intended to confront Macie and ask how long she nned to sulk. But then, he changed his mind.
He stopped in his tracks, reached behind, and pulled Sharon forward. He spun her around and pressed
her against the wall before leaning in.
He figured that Macie would definitely get jealous seeing this. Perhaps she would p him like she did in
the hospital or, at the very least, argue with him.
As long as she hit him or yelled at him…
Edward waited in anticipation. However…
The guest room door opened and closed.
Even though she was just a few steps away, Macie hadn’t even paused or looked back.
She hadpletely ignored him, as if he didn’t exist.
Edward clenched his fists as rage burned inside him.
“Ed…” Sharon had been startled at first, but soon her arms wrapped around his neck. She tiptoed to press her lips to his.
Before she could kiss him, a loud bang echoed. She yelped in surprise as her face turned pale.
Edward had punched the wall right beside her head.
“Go to bed early,” he said, his expression dark, before turning and heading into the master bedroom.
Sharon stood frozen, her heart pounding.
He had missed her by just four inches. She didn’t know what was going on. She wondered why he had suddenly lost it and hit the wall.
Shaken, Sharon quickly sent him a message to check on him.
Edward stood by the window inside the master bedroom. Even though his phone buzzed non–stop, he
didn’t receive the message he wanted to see.
He wondered why Macie had suddenly changed. 1
He clenched his teeth as his whole body tensed.
Images of her once warm and gentle smile and her caring words flooded his mind.
Compared to now, the difference was night and day.
For a moment, he even doubted whether the hospital had swapped the real Macie with someone else.
The more he thought, the angrier he became. But the angrier he got, the more he thought about it.
He kicked the wall in frustration.
In the guest room, Macie quickly applied her skincare, afraid that if she took too long, she’d hear the
noises from next door.
That would be disgusting enough to give her nightmares.
She put on her headphones, listened to a lecture, and sketched on her graphics tablet. She worked until 1: 00 am before shutting down herputer.
Edward had work the following day. Macie was sure that he wouldn’t have that much energy.
As she expected, the other room had gone quiet.
Relieved, Macie went to sleep. But in her half–asleep state, she heard the door of the room beside hers
open.
She instinctively thought, “Wow. Impressive. Didn’t they have enough fun while I was gone for half a month? They’re having so much fun untilte every night.”
In the living room, Edward poured himself a ss of water and took some stomach medicine. He had
finally felt better around noon, but eating out that night had made him ufortable again.
He went to check the fridge. At that moment, the overly salted braised beef didn’t seem inedible. He figured that he could just eat a bit more of the side dishes to bnce it out.
However, the fridge waspletely empty. Macie had thrown everything away.
Frustrated, Edward walked to the guest room door. He raised his hand to knock on it to wake her up to
cook.
But after hesitating for a few seconds, he ultimately lowered his hand.
