Chapter 70
A smirk tugged at Sharon’s lips as she plotted in her mind.
The main course arrived, but Edward barely ate. Instead, he finished nearly an entire bottle of red wine. When a second bottle was opened, the alcohol began taking effect.
“No more, Sharon. I still have work this afternoon,” Edward said, moving his ss away to stop her from refilling it.
“You seem stressed. I’m guessing that work has been overwhelming. A little wine and a nap in your office will help you feel refreshed,” Sharon gently coaxed.
Edward listened, though his bad mood wasn’t because of work. It was because of Macie.
She still hadn’t reached out to him and wasn’t answering his calls. It frustrated and enraged him, leaving
him restless.
In the end, he ced the ss back on the table and nudged it toward Sharon. She poured him another
drink.
Meanwhile, Macie and her friends had finished with their meals. Julian paid the bill as they got up to
leave.
“I need to use the restroom. May,e with me?” Alice asked.
Macie nodded and walked with her while Julian said, “I’ll wait outside.” <fn1af7> Th?s chapter is updated by find{n}ovel</fn1af7>
“There’s no need, Julian. You should head back to the office. You have to work this afternoon,” Macie said.
“It’s fine. I’m not in any rush,” Julian replied.
Macie and Alice went to the restroom. Alice took a longer time while Macie stepped out first, washing
her hands at the sink.
Just then, a voice from outside made her freeze.
“Ed, are you okay? Let me help you. Be careful, or you’ll fall.” Sharon’s voice rang out.
Macie went rigid. She couldn’t believe how unlucky she was. She wondered if she should head back into
the restroom stall and hide.
“Don’t touch me. I’m fine. Men and women should keep their distance. I’m married.” Edward’s voice came
next.
Macie scoffed, a mocking smirk ying at her lips. Married? Keeping a distance?
Hadn’t he and Sharon already rolled in the sheets multiple times during their marriage?

Oh, right. It wasn’t considered cheating anymore if it was not a pursuit of true love.
Just as Macie turned to return to the restroom, she heard Sharon speak again and decided to stay put, only shifting her position to avoid direct eye contact with Edward.
Footsteps approached from behind, growing closer. Her heart pounded in her chest.
She didn’t think that he would recognize her from behind as her hair was different now.
Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to rx.
The sound of the footsteps passed by her, fading into the men’s restroom. Only then did Macie slowly turn and walk out.
Sharon waited outside as Macie passed by in the opposite direction, pletely unrecognized.
Inside the men’s restroom, Edward frowned, his mind unsettled. Just before walking in, he could’ve sworn that he saw Macie again.
The slim figure, the height, and even the way her arms looked–everything matched his memory of Macie, except this woman had short hair.
After using the restroom, Edward washed his hands and instinctively nced to the side, only to see a woman with voluminous waves instead.
“Edward?” A voice called his name before he could think further.
He turned and took a moment to recognize the woman before him.
“Ms. Hart,” Edward greeted.
“At least you still remember me. Seeing your face, I almost thought you’d been drinking in broad daylight,
“Alice remarked.
Edward’s face was visibly flushed from the alcohol, and his usually sharp eyes were clouded. He lookedpletely different from his usual cold andposed self.
Just then, Sharon entered, quickly linking her arm around Edward’s and feigning concern. “Edward, are you okay?” She nced sideways at Alice, assessing her.
She thought that Alice looked familiar. Wasn’t she one of Macie’s close college friends?
Alice clicked her tongue. “Seriously? In broad daylight? You two aren’t even trying to be subtle.”
She then turned to Edward, her gaze sharp. “So, are you openly cheating now?”
