One of the interviewers smiled and said, “Ms. Smith, your professional expertise is outstanding. Your leadership in several teampetitions during college makes you an excellent fit for the director position.”
Macie pursed her lips at the remark and nced at Julian. “I’m sorry, but I don’t think I’m qualified for that. I’d be happy to join the design department as a staff member.”
The interviewers were momentarily surprised by her rejection.
Macie continued, “Thank you for your confidence in me. Thepetitions during college were team events, and the leader back then was Mr. Atkins, not me. I was just the assistant, so <b>I </b>can’t really take credit for that. <fnc763> Updates are released by Find1Novel</fnc763>
“I’m well aware of my weaknesses. This is my first job, and I have a lot to learn, especially when ites to leading a team. If I get promoted, I’d like to start from the ground up.”
After hearing her response, the interviewers appreciated her honesty and sincerity. Then, they turned their attention to their boss sitting nearby.
Julian didn’t seem too happy at her response. Before he could say anything, Macie spoke up.
“Julian, did you forget what I told you before? Don’t start me off with such a high position. I know you mean well, but that would just put a lot of pressure on me.”
He sighed when he saw the pleading look in her eyes and said, “Fine. We’ll do it your way, and you can work
your way up.”
She smiled gratefully and continued discussing the details with the interviewers.
When the topic of sry came up, Julian intervened again. He thought that the proposed base sry of 10,000 dors was too low and insisted her starting sry be 20,000 dors.
The interviewers naturally didn’t dare say much, but Macie spoke up and requested a lower figure instead.
She had already looked up typical sries in the field. Since the job market had be increasinglypetitive in recent years, 10,000 dors was the standard starting pay for fresh graduates. She had been out of the workforce for two years, so she figured that was a fair rate.
“Macie, are you here to work or suffer? First, you turned down a director position, and now you want a lower sry?” Julian sighed.

“I appreciate your support, but I’d rather follow the standard procedure. I don’t need special treatment. Justnding this job is already a huge opportunity for me.” Macie smiled.
Julian studied her for a moment before finally relenting. Nevertheless, he felt that 10,000 dors was too low,
so they settled on 15,000 dors.
Macie officially joined thepany. She declined Julian’s offer to personally escort her and instead followed a staff member from the human resource department to the design department.
She joined Design Team Three. When the human resource staff member introduced her, her new colleagues
initially assumed that she was brought in as a team lead and eyed her curiously. But once they realized that she
was just an entry–level employee, they lost interest.
Macie was officially settled into her new job, but she still felt a little dazed as she sat at her desk. Up until four
days ago, she was still a “nanny“. She thought that it was surreal how quickly her life had changed.
Edward was in a foul mood at Fowler Group’s CEO’s office. After returning to his office, he sat motionless with
his bloodshot eyes lost in a daze. No matter how he tried, he couldn’t focus on work.
He wondered why he had only realized how much Macie meant to him when it was already toote.
He couldn’t ept it. He hadn’t had the chance to make things right or tell Macie how he felt, so how could she disappear from his life like this?
Edward picked up the phone and called Nathan to his office. His voice was hoarse as he ordered, “I don’t care
what it takes. Find me Macie’s contact information and her current address.”
Nathan met Edward’s bloodshot gaze, which carried an imposing authority. He could only nod in response.
