They bowed as I walked past, their respect palpable. The healing wing was tidy and serene when I arrived, a quiet contrast to the storm in my heart. I made my way toward the hall where I had met Princess Mearez the other day, only for the door to open before I could reach it.
Princess Serena stepped out, nked by her usual two maids carrying scrolls. They looked urgent and busy, yet the moment she saw me, she froze.
“Zephyrine?” she called, a bright smile lighting her face as she circled her fingers around my wrist. “Have you met my baby brother?”
I smiled at her usual way of referring to Lycannar, the man who had left me breathless, my body aching for him. To Serena, he was the baby brother; to me, he was everything else.
“I came to speak with you and Princess Mearez,” I said softly. Her brow furrowed in curiosity, but without another word, she gently pulled me toward the hall she had just exited, speaking over her shoulder to her maids.
“Go on. I will catch up with you bothter.”
“Alright, Princess Serena,” they answered in unison and left.
Inside the hall that opened into a chamber, I found Princess Mearez busy preparing a potion with three of her students, all diligently focused. I paused for a few seconds, watching. These were skills Olivia, Nyroth’s sister, had long failed to acquire despite her efforts in every healing school in the werewolf world.
“Mearez?” her sister called softly, but she held up a hand, buying herself minutes. “It’s Zephyrine.”
Her palm lowered, and she turned to face me fully. The warmth in her gaze immediately stirred something inside me. I crossed the distance and embraced her, a rare gesture on my part. I had thought it would be easy, but now I realized it was far from that.
“Leave us,” Princess Mearez ordered her students, who obeyed and closed the door, leaving just the three of<ol><li>us.</li></ol>
I stepped back, sighing shakily, their eyes full of curiosity and wonder.
“What’s wrong, love?” Princess Mearez asked, taking my hand tenderly. “Did Lycannar hurt you?”
“No,” I replied.
Both princesses exchanged relieved nces.<fnf2f2> The source of th?s content is Find?Novel</fnf2f2>
“What’s wrong then?” Serena asked softly.
“I… I have the date and time I will be rejecting my mate,” I announced. Relief washed over them; they had been holding their breath in fear and anticipation.
“That’s good news, Zephyrine,” Serena said. “After breaking the bond, you will finally understand Lycannar’s affection fully.”

I nodded, aware that the mate bond still clouded my senses when I was around Nyroth. After the rejection, rity would return.
“I am going on a trip,” I continued. “I don’t know when I will be back. You both have been so good to me, and I want you to know you will always be in my heart while I am away.”
A tense silence fell. Princess Mearez’s hand went cold as she let it drop. Serena stared at me for a long moment, unblinking. I sighed shakily.
“Without you around him, Lycannar will lose his senses,” Serena said. “Is this about… are you worried he will choose us over you?”
I blinked at her, caught off guard, while Mearez nudged her gently.
“Serena, stay calm.”
“No,” Serena countered. “She needs to understand what’s at stake if she leaves my baby brother.”
“I am not leaving him,” I replied firmly, determination clear in my voice. “How do you mean he would choose you both over me?”
The two princesses exchanged a look before Mearez exined.
“My father’s death opened the door to freedom for us. We thought all abuse was over and Lycannar free from maniption, but we were wrong. He wrote a will. Lycannar is betrothed to a woman of his choosing. Failure toply… we, his sisters, will be enved.”
A chill ran through me.
“Lycannar wasn’t worried about it initially because he has a way of solving problems,” Serena added. I froze.
“Not by killing?<b>” </b>
“That depends on their behavior. But for now, Lycannar is informing my brother Hades. The scroll has the Royal seal and everything is authentic. But you have nothing to worry about,” Mearez reassured me. My knees went weak.
I sank into a wooden chair, staring nkly, my thoughts racing. Even in death, Lycannar’s father had a way to taunt and manipte. The thought of his sisters being at risk for me… my heart clenched.
“Zephyrine?” Mearez called, and I looked up at her, heart heaving. I walked over and hugged her again, then turned to embrace Serena quietly,
“I am going on a trip, as I said, but this isn’t about leaving Lycannar. It’s about returning to my pack. I will be back before the eve of the full moon. Until then… whatever happens, whatever you hear… know this from me. My heart and body belong to Lycannar.”
