Invitation 43

    Chapter <b>43 </b>

“Surprised to see me?” Sharon asked smilingly. She then joked, “Or are you just disappointed that it’s not May who came?”

Edward frowned instantly and retorted without thinking, “How could I be? Don’t say something so disgusting.”

Sharon smirked and stepped closer. <fnd1d5> Latest content published on findnovel</fnd1d5>

Right then, Edward added, “It’s her duty to bring me lunch. Why would I keep her otherwise? I just didn’t want you to go through the trouble. You shouldn’t be doing this kind of thing.”

“I was just passing by. I only work half–days now since I don’t have any runway shows,” Sharon replied. “Just put it on the table. I’ll have Nathan drive you to the studio,” Edward said as he walked over to the

    couch.

“There’s no rush. I’ll keep youpany for a while.” Sharon sat down beside him, smiling.

Edward didn’t argue. As he opened the lunchbox, the rich aroma of food filled the air. He cautiously took a small bite.

“I knew it. She did that on purposest night,” Edwardined. It seemed that the food was seasoned normally that day.

“Of course. She prepared this only for you. Naturally, May wouldn’t add too much salt.” Sharon sighed.” It’s fine. She must feel ufortable with me staying at your ce. At least she only added extra salt and not poison,” shemented optimistically.

Edward frowned at the mention of poison.

He thought that Macie might be capable of it. After all, she had deliberately spilled scalding hot soup on Sharon’s foot. She was willing <i>to </i>suffer herself just to inflict even greater harm.

“I’ll rent a ce for you. Macie poses <i>too </i>much danger,” Edward said.

    “1

Sharon hesitated when she heard this. She wondered if she had pushed too hard, making him decide that she should move out.

“It’s alright. I spoke with May this morning. I told her that I’m notpeting with her for you, so she doesn’t have to worry about me,” Sharon reassured him. “Besides, if you rent me a ce, she’ll probably just get even angrier. She can keep an eye on me when I’m right under her nose.”

Edward frowned upon hearing that Macie would keep an eye on Sharon. (1

Yetst night, Macie had seen everything and actedpletely indifferent.

Judging by her behavior, he was almost certain Macie had some kind of split personality. She seemed to be coldly unaffected one moment, then vengefully retaliating against Sharon the next.

Oddly enough, he found that Sharon’sints about Macie’s tricks didn’t make him angry. On the contrary, he felt a strange sense of satisfaction.

Edward let out a cold snort, the smirk on his lips appearing briefly before he started eating.

Meanwhile, Sharon was deep in thought about what Macie had said that morning. The divorce document was still in her bag. She needed to figure out a way for Edward to sign it without realizing it.

There was no room for error. She knew that getting a second chance would be nearly impossible if he

    caught on.

After lunch, Edward didn’t immediately send Sharon away. Instead, he instructed Nathan while he

    focused on his work.

When Sharon brought him a cup of tea and noticed a stack of documents on his desk, an idea began to take shape in her mind.

Seeing how preupied he was that he couldn’t even spare her a moment, she eventually left on her own after 20 minutes, with Nathan to drive her.

As soon as the door shut behind Sharon, Edward looked up from the files and pushed them aside.

He pulled out his phone and sent Macie a message, questioning why she hadn’t personally brought him

    his lunch.

Five minutes passed, but there was still no response from Macie.

Annoyed, he sent another message, ming her for making Sharon go out of her way. He deliberately used a harsh tone, expecting her to defend herself.

    But…

Ten minutester, there was still nothing.

Furious, Edward tossed his phone aside and crossed his arms.

Downstairs at Fowler Group, Sharon shot a disdainful nce at the receptionist as she left. She sneered.” Open your damn eyes next time and take a good look. Watch it. I might just have Ed fire you otherwise.”
