Invitation 44

    Chapter 44

The receptionist lowered her head, not daring to argue.

Nathan followed Sharon and rolled his eyes at her arrogant and domineering attitude. After all, even the legitimate wife wasn’t this haughty!

s, Sharon was the one Edward liked…

Meanwhile, Macie was revising her résumé at home. She had been out of work for two years, and though she could rely on connections to get into Julian’spany, the HR department still had to process her application. 1

Macie didn’t even nce at her relentlessly buzzing phone.

Now that Edward was full from eating, he was probably throwing another fit, defending Sharon yet again.

Did he really think Macie had asked Sharon to deliver the food? Sharon had insisted on doing it herself.

But now that Macie had already handed over the divorce agreement, Sharon probably wouldn’t tamper with the food again just to frame her.

Nathan drove Sharon to work that day.

By now, every internal personnel had almostpletely epted her as “Mrs. Fowler“.

Sharon had been wondering how to slip the divorce papers among Edward’s documents for him to sign, but in the afternoon, the chief nner came to her with a proposal to secure an investment from Fowler

    Group.

A smirk appeared on Sharon’s lips when she heard this.

Things were working in her favor.

Five dayster, she brought the contract herpany and Fowler Group drafted and went with the chief nner to Edward’s office for the signing.

In the conference room, the chief nner made small talk with Edward to build rapport. Taking advantage of the moment, Sharon discreetly slipped the divorce papers in among the other documents.

“Sign here, Ed. And thank you, by the way. Thanks to your investment, the chief nner has given me both the opening and closing spots for the uing fashion show.”

Sitting beside Edward, she leaned in, her arm brushing against his intimately.

“Ms. Emerson has an exceptional figure and appearance, but it’s her unique aura that truly stands out.

She’s the perfect choice for the grand opening and the finale,” the chief nner said tteringly.

Edward knew that it was just empty ttery. However, since he was investing in the next show, he thought that it was reasonable to ensure that Sharon had a prime position.

As he looked at the front page of the contract and was about to flip through it, a delicate, slender hand had already positioned it directly at the signature section.

Edward hesitated for a second but eventually signed it. He didn’t think it that Sharon would dare slip in anything dangerous enough to trap him.

Beside him, Sharon held her breath, watching intently as Edward finished signing the document. When he was done, she swiftly pulled the contract back and stuffed it into her bag before he could say anything.

Edward frowned, but a secondter, Sharon took the documents out again and said, “I think I was too quick to put them away. My bad! I’m just in a rush to get back to rehearsals.”

She ced the papers back in front of Edward, smiling. “Ed, take another look at the terms to avoid any disputes after we leave the office.”

“Ms. Emerson is quite thorough. Mr. Fowler, you should review it onest time. On our end, we are also

looking forward to a long–term coboration with Mrs. Fowler,” the chief nner added.

Edward picked up the documents and skimmed through the key points. He thought that everything seemed fine. But as he flipped through, he pursed his lips slightly.

Why did it feel like there were fewer signature sections than he remembered? He wondered if he was

    imagining things.

Sharon tensed up as he flipped through a few more pages, but eventually, Edward put the papers down.

“It looks good. The manager will handle the follow–ups with you,” he announced.

“Great! We’re looking forward to working together!” The chief nner stood up and shook hands with

    him.

As they left, Sharon told Edward that she’d be waiting for him to have dinner at home that evening.

Hearing that, Edward was momentarily lost in thought while Macie came to mind. <fn657a> The rightful source is find[?]ovel</fn657a>
